The Festival would be nothing without live music. Over the years some great bands have supported us.  Whether  live at the camps, or in gigs around the country.  Our double CD contains music donated by these bands.

Below is just a few of them. More will join this list as we go along. They are in no particular order, or preference.

Hawkwind

Hawkwind actually began as an outgrowth of the psychedelic movement. Leader Dave Brock first got his feet wet with an acoustic guitar, busking on street corners. He soon joined forces with Nik Turner and Mick Slatery to form Group X. With the addition of Dik Mik, Terry Ollis and Huw Lloyd Langton, and the departure of Slatery, they took on the name Hawkwind -- then replaced a "doors of perception" motif with a more science fiction-themed take, thanks to author Michael Moorcock, and Robert Calvert.

In addition, they emphasized the pulsing urgency of the rhythm as much as the ethereal -- helpig to create "space rock." The band had a surprise hit single in the summer of 1972 with "Silver Machine," which rose to No. 3 in the UK charts. Their live shows remain the stuff of legend. It was an over-the-top sensory overload complete with naked dancer, disorienting light show, and volume set very, very loud.

That same year, they took the show on the road with the legendary Space Ritual tour. "It was like Star Trek with long hair ... and drugs," said Lemmy in a BBC Hawkwind documentary. "We weren't like the f--in' Pink Floyd," he continued, "We were like a f--in' black nightmare. We used to lock the doors so people couldn't get out!"

3 Daft Monkeys

With Celtic and eastern influences, the 3 Daft Monkeys’ dynamic style of world folk music reflects the global village in which we now live. Their infectious dancing rhythms lead you through a musical journey of the senses and emotions, and will leave you breathless, enthralled and exhilarated.
3 Daft Monkeys have played at a huge number and variety of festivals in the UK, including Fairport Convention’s Cropredy, Beautiful Days, Trowbridge Village Pump, Towersey Folk Festival, Cambridge Folk Festival and Boomtown Fair. Their eclectic mix of styles has drawn them a following right across Europe, and the band have headlined festivals in Holland, Germany and France. 3 Daft Monkeys have also recently joined acrobats and circus performers in the new and vibrant boutique “busking festival” scenes of Switzerland and Italy.

NFA.  First created at Sheep Music Festival many moons ago. When the whole festival was flooded and also islanded us in for the weekend, the organisers closed the event and so NFA, (formally known as the Special Needs Disco Band, a band name that we found was a bit too controversial) was born. Grabbing the communal tarps, suitcase generator, instruments and amps off the back of a Mitsubishi Shogun, Steve’s home for him and his dog at the time, we jammed and kept the festival spirit alive…while the rest of the festival had closed down. Since then we have been quietly chipping away in a dark, dampened room on a old spring mattress, NOW SET FREE!!!! to create many songs…
